Dear youth reporters and storytellers:
Thank you again for your interest in writing stories for the
mainstream media, so that everyone can understand your viewpoint and
share part of your world.
We now invite you to submit your stories to be posted on our news
service website, Youth OUTLOUD! (check it out at:
www.youthoutloud.net) This site has been in development for many
months, and we are now ready to begin posting stories. It will
officially launch on January 16, 2006.
We are inviting the mainstream press to visit the website to find
stories they would like to print in their newspapers, magazines,
websites or other forms of media. For the stories they selected, they
will pay a fee of $50 each, of which you will receive 25%. Your goal
is to write a story that many media outlets will want to use, so you
can receive as much money as possible. Please be sure you review the
editorial guidelines so you are writing a story that will be accepted
by Youth OUTLOUD!
Specifically, we are looking for these types of story at this time:
News Stories – These stories describe news in your community. If
your area is affected by war, drought, hurricanes or other incidents
that have been part of the news, then send us a story that describes
how these events have affected your life and the lives of those
around you.
Feature Stories – These stories will provide insight into what
issues youth are facing in their daily lives. If you have a story
about challenges in confronting an illness, or serving in a war, or
your fears and hopes of the future, or your thoughts about music
trends, this is the place to share them.
Post Cards – These are short, fun stories that describe your life,
home and community. Similar to writing a postcard to a friend, these
stories describe the unique aspects of your community. Tell us about
your home, your school, what you do for fun, the things you worry
about, the food you eat, and what you do in your typical day. You
will also need to tell us about yourself a little…your name, age,
sex, hometown, etc. and include a photo.
I am sure you have many ideas, and all are welcome. Please send me a
note describing your idea if you are not sure what I am looking for.
Send these inquiries to: editor (at) youthoutloud.net.
We are very excited to begin offering your stories to the mainstream
media. We are certain this is the beginning of youth worldwide taking
a stand for their place in the world. We are happy you have trusted
us with your incredible stories.
Please submit you stories to: submissions (at) youthoutloud.net.
We look forward to hearing from you.
With warm regards,
Sherry Sacino
