Peace through understanding
"The shame of ignorance is killing "I nearly died" grown up, says their early dumb misunderstandings, and they mean that the revealing of their ignorance feels like a stoppage of the heart"
-Carol Shields
Envisage a world unleashed from the cacophony of hostility, humiliation, and hatred, but is instead cuddled with congruous hum of graciousness, gist of living, and gusto. How scrumptious life would be, harmonize with tranquility and freedom. Yet, its grandiose to fancy a spherical desire without a grasp of apprehension and appreciation of our worlds features leading to the inception of peacenik.
Reminiscing decades pastsniveling victims of World Wars, Cold and Civil war, Vietnam war and so it goes. What grotesque incidents are those of misperception and misunderstanding that every souls heart still remembers and is implausible to neglect. But how peculiar are we to even compensate September 11 assault as to awaken a "sleeping giant" creating memories of tears once again? We have underwhelmed ourselves, from our grandiloquence of desires. What a flimsy belief is it to put faith on tyranny and superiority instead of equality and unity? Have we misinterpreted the merit of living?
We the people doesnt need surreal maneuvers for us to realize the significance of peace advocacy, fostering understanding, from east to west, north and south of this globe. If only were not senselessto ajar our eyes to see how lush our globe is; heed with the sound of our world, of several languages and music; and lend our hands to reach out for our purlieus from coast to coast. If only we can venture to open our doors to our neighbors, cuddle them warmly, be cognizant of their acts and words, distinguish perspectives of differences and similarities and recognize their own identity.
It is perceptible that regardless of our race, color, and creed; nationality and language, each one of us counts in the census of this worlds population. Therefore, it is indeed flimsy to recognize the five continents and 192 countries in our planet, just in times of hullabaloos influenced of propaganda and fallacy. Shame of lame for us not to act responsibly as citizen of our own worldone who is supposed to understand his environments atmosphere and the nature of its people; one who promote camaraderie calming the sphere where we revolve. It is even peculiar to reveal that in our entire life we havent thought of stepping out beyond our boundaries, where else it is estimated that we walk 5, 000 miles a year enabling us to roam around the world. What a secret to divulge, unbelievable isnt it? Why are we corrupting ourselves not taking a chance to visit other lands, timid of not knowing any language except our ownif we know we are eager to learn and twist out tongue? We all know
how to say "yes" or "no" do we? How selfish are we to keep ourselves in our private corners, skeptical of seeing distinctive things around us, denying how amazing and unique are they, if we believe we possessed our own identities. Of course we can certainly keep what we have, but is it wonderful to move our cheese? Its just discrepant and we are indeed different in some matters, but we all have Macdonalds and Starbucks somewhere, somehow.
Sometimes, we might have thought oncehow our Israelis, Iraqis brothers and sisters coping up with their mushroom, blatant atmosphere; our Asians relatives across the oceans struggling to flow together with the new generation; our African natives who are suffering from hunger and poverty; our Latinos comrades with their endeavors to face challenges of the world; our Americans friends persevering with several predicaments of our globe. If only we can take time to hear their voices, see their faces of kindness and benevolent and join them in their exertions. If only we can take time to understand, love and let them be with us. If only we can all accept we belong to each other.
"We need to create a world, we can all peacefully live
The life we choose.
We need to create a world where we can once again all trust each other"
Susan Polis Schutz
Peace doesnt merely mean freedom from war or such civil disorderit defines harmony in human relations, synchronized with amity and love. Peace is a piece to release our preposterous memories of the past and prosper our posterity.
Knowing, learning and understanding are indeed unexpressed agreement. It doesnt solely correspond with the involvement of such sign agreement and sophisticated conventions and conferences, practiced by our nations representatives. We, of our hearts, are all ambassadors of good will, diplomats of understanding and peace advocates.
Conceive a verdant world, serene and of empathy. How marvelous is it to perceive life as a gift to share.
