Hi. I know I am late to this discussion, but I wanted to share anyway. My name is Breona Gutschmidt, and I am a young woman in the US who is trying to get involved with ICT. I am eager to learn more and also to share my education and experience with others who may benefit from it. I wanted to make the comment that I have been looking for a volunteer opportunity in another country in this area. I have been volunteering here in Seattle, but felt that I wanted to go the next level and spend sometime away from the US and volunteer elsewhere, in a more intense capacity, to learn more, contribute meaningfully, and find out if working in this field is for me. However, I have found it fairly difficult to find a volunteer opportunity. I have Internet access in my home and I would think it should be fairly easy for me, yet it is still hard to find places to "plug in." Why is this? Work in ICTs should be a collaborative effort, and yet it seems as though each group is opporating in a
void. Likewise, I see a need for increase mentorship everywhere. If I am missing some resources, please let me know. Otherwise, how can we make it easier to connect needs with resources, desire with opportunity, and mentorship with those who seek guidance?
