	There are different dimensions of youth participation that need to be considered, according to the World Bank's Children and Youth team?specific context, the participant, and the task at hand. Broadly speaking, participation can be categorized as consultative processes, participatory initiatives and self-advocacy. The World Bank has embarked on the following initiatives in the area of youth participation: -Globally: At the two Youth, Development and Peace conferences in Paris and Sarajevo resulting in the establishment of the Youth Development and Peace Network (YDP). - Regionally: Youth Conferences and Youth Grant Competitions in Europe and Central Asia Region in May 2007. In the planning phase of expanding the similar opportunity to other regions. -Locally: By involving young people in the development, implementation, and monitoring of country level World Bank operations through Youth Voices groups. These are three specific methods the World Bank engages with young people. Please consider the following questions for this week: - What does youth participation mean to you? -What are some issues young people care about in your community and how do young people get involved? -What are some examples of meaningful youth participation? (i.e., What are youth's roles in the decision making process, roles of youth organizations, any concrete outcomes? Any systems or structure available to voice your opinions/ideas?) -What can youth in North America learn from these different methods? What are the advantages and disadvantages?
