Hello All,
I have been selected to participate in a media skill and communication
workshop been supported bY UNCIEF, BBC AND UNAIDS, In Nigeria.
The BBC World Service Trust (WST) is running an HIV/AIDS mass media
campaign in Nigeria, addressing young people between 15 and 24,encouraging
them to adopt behaviors that would prevent them from HIV infection, and to
reduce stigma. The campaign is using entertainment techniques to attract a
wide youth audience on radio, TV and film.
The workshop will provide the skills to communicate through the media on
Nigeria HIV/AIDS Information in collaboration with BBC, UNICEF, UNAIDS is conducting a media skills, and communication workshop for young people to build their capacity on using the media to Educate the Populace( Especially young people) on HIV/AIDS, In Nigeria.
Encouraging Young people to adopt behaviors that would prevent them from HIV infection, and to reduce stigma. The campaign is using entertainment
techniques to attract a wide youth audience on radio, TV and film.
The WST has a production office in Abuja, where a team of editors,
producers, presenters and support staff are putting together the media
output for broadcast on Nigerian stations. The radio programmes that
are currently broadcast on more than 50 Nigerian radio stations are
called FLAVA (in English) and Ya Take Ne? (in Hausa).
UNAIDS and UNICEF are supporting the above project with two activities:
1. A media-skills workshop for 30 selected candidates from across
Nigeria to acquire basic knowledge on media and communication
techniques.
2. A limited number of three-month attachments, where young
Nigerians living with HIV/AIDS are working with the BBC WST in Abuja
for three months, acquiring media skills which they can put to good
use in their home organisations after the attachment finishes.


So the Aim of this workshop is to Educate the participants on media skills and communcation.
