Nom: Sharing the Dream
Description :
As part of the Vancouver 2010 Education Program, the BC Ministry of Education and its partners are producing the Sharing the Dream Webcast Series. This initiative will invite senior students across Canada and around the world to participate in a series of student-led webcast interviews related to the components of the Vancouver 2010 Education Program. The program components include; Olympism, Paralympism, Sport & Healthy Living, Culture, and Sustainability, with Global Citizenship as the overarching unifying concept. The goal of each webcast is not only to inform students about a topic, but also to leave them with ideas and questions to reflect on, as well as strategies about how they can take action. At the end of each webcast, students will be invited to use the TakingITGlobal platform to continue the discussion with students from around the world. By using TakingITGlobal, students can meet with other youth leaders and find ways to get involved and make a difference in their community or communities around that world.

Canadian Olympic Gold medalist Carol Huynh is the guest for the first Sharing the Dream Webcast Series, held at 11:00am PST on Wednesday, November 12. At the Beijing 2008 Olympics, Carol became the first woman to win a wrestling gold medal for Canada. Other career highlights include 2007 Pan American Games Gold and the 2005 World University Games Gold. She is an eight-time Canadian Senior Champion. Carol was the first of her family to be born in Canada. She grew up in tiny Hazelton, B.C., where the United Church had sponsored her parents as refugees out of Vietnam to come to Canada. As a teenager, it was her older siblings who were always there, encouraging her to get into sports. Carol’s current goal is to earn a PhD in sports psychology, and work with elite athletes. She will present on being the best you can be at whatever you love to do, and on setting goals and making the right choices to reach them. Visit www.sharingthedream.gov.bc.ca for more information and links to how to view the webcast.
