S.A.L.A.M. is the Arabic word for "peace" and an acronym for what this program seeks to encourage: Solutions and Actions that Limit Animosity and Miscommunication.

We at S.A.L.A.M. want our youth to be ready to deal with conflict that each of them will encounter, whether it be on a personal or global level. We want disagreements with classmates, parents, or siblings to be dealt with in a way that is empowering and conducive to a positive outcome, and we want them to realize that the bigger conflicts they see in the world stem from the behavior and decisions of people on an individual level as well. We focus on the idea of individual choice and consequence when dealing with others and with our own emotions.

As our scientific and medical communities work hard to give us protection from physical anomalies, we must recognize the need to work for freedom from social and humanitarian adversities. We at S.A.L.A.M. offer a curriculum as the beginning of a journey in the quest for inner and outer peace. We strive to aid in the detection of breakdowns in communication, self-control, and social awareness so that our students are better-equipped to deal with such interruptions in personal and social harmony.
