WELCOME TO TIG RUSSIAN GROUP OF E-TRANSLATORS!

Created in June 2004, this group allows members of the Russian translators e-team involved in translating TIG website into Russian to communicate with each other during the project and to share their experiences and ideas.

The translation of the website into Russian will make TIG's site more accessible to young people in the CIS region. As you probably know, Russian is an official language in Russia, Kazakhstan, Republic of Moldova and Belarus. Russian is the third worldwide language after English and Chinese and one of the 6 official languages of the UN. About 160 million peope consider Russian as their native language. Another 60 million speak Russian fluently. An estimated 100 to 150 million people learn Russian as a second or third language. About 25% of all printed books worldwide are in Russian.
