Categories: Culture Education Globalization
Description:
Public interest in the fates of the younger generation is caused by the need to preserve and develop social structures in all of the forms of their existence.
The younger generation is included into society through various socialization institutions: families, education and professional training systems, through the ascent to civilizational identity and historical memory of the society. The youth can adopt spiritual and practical experience of the older generation through this learning. Thus, the future is directly dependent on the quality of existing dialog between generations. Current social technologies divide the society into independent age categories, cultivating univocal models of communication among them that are beneficial in terms of economic, political and public opinions. These models realize the mechanism of passing on historical memory, but undermine the ability to perceive and pass one personalized experience between parents and children.
Pro-active youth is invited to formulate relevant agenda and find practical answers to emerging challenges. Open environment for direct communication promotes dialogue between generations, helping the youth to find the answer to the question “What the future will be like?”. The forum in Greece will gather over 100 people from all over the world (Europe, Russia, the US, the CIS, African countries, Asia (India and China), Brazil, Argentina, Chile etc). Current and former leaders of the states and governments as well as public and religious figures, cultural and academic figures are expected to address the Forum.
The Youth Rhodes Forum is held with the support of the International Non-Government Organization – World Public Forum “Dialogue of Cilivizations”.
