With the ambition to become the province's version of the Huffington Post, I've started Ontario Politics Blog as an in-depth online venue for the latest news and commentary on Ontario politics and issues facing Ontarians. Our mission is to help people in the community become informed users of media, not just passive consumers.

I will be heading the project as a recent journalism school graduate with a background in the social sciences and several years of experience in local and nation news reporting. I am currently an associate editor for an online media company.

I'm currently looking for a handful of like-minded individuals who are knowledgeable about regional politics or interested in becoming more informed. My ideal correspondents are those who can report on issues using a journalist's judgement and subjectivity, but who can also write biting commentary.

Ontario Politics Blog will address special issues on a revolving basis such as education, crime, poverty, business, labour, media, health-care, youth, seniors, queer issues, multiculturalism, and more. For these issues, we will have a "competing viewpoints" feature where we look within our network of writers and outside contacts for individuals to write essays about a certain issue from differing angles.
