  Hello, lovely migration group members!

Sorry for the delay with the report this week - we had a few responses
trickle in at the last minute. The third week's summary, on the theme of
migrant communication and policy coherence, is attached and posted on the
migration group website in the normal location:
http://groups.tigweb.org/migration/documents/

We've finished posting weekly questions, and will now compile all the
responses into one report for the Global Forum on Migration and Development.
If you'd still like to contribute, however, IT'S NOT TOO LATE! You can email
me (lindsay (at) ypwc.org) your responses to questions from any of the three
weeks until THIS SATURDAY at MIDNIGHT (Ghana time) and I will include them
in the report.

For your convenience, I've copied the three sets of questions below. We'll
also send out the second and third weeks' concept notes and questions in
Spanish and French.

Thank you all for your enthusiasm and support for this project! It is only
with your engagement that we can make a difference at forums and events like
the GFMD.

All the best,
Lindsay

The questions:

*Week One: How to Make the Migration-Development Nexus Work for the
Achievement of the Millenium Development Goals?*

1.

What is the best way that migrants can contribute to their home
communities, in your opinion?
2.

How do we ensure that migration policies are child-, youth-, and
gender-sensitive?
3.

What MDGs can you think of that are directly affected by migration (e.g.
the spread of HIV/AIDs)?
4.

How could young people get involved in making migration work for the
achievement of the MDGs?

*Week Two: Migrant Circulation and Integration*

1.

Have you ever migrated and returned?
2.

What are the necessary policies for promoting circular migration? (What
policies are needed to protect vulnerable migrant groups from both
racial/ethnic and gender discrimination in the labour market?)
3.

If you were or are a migrant, how would a form of short-term migration
affect your integration into your host country?
4.

What does “integration” mean to you?

*Week Three: Migrant Communication, Policy, and Institutional Coherence*

1.

As a migrant or non-migrant, how do you communicate with distant friends
and relatives? What are your discussions and conversations about?
2.

As a migrant, do you feel concerned by development debates or issues
about your country of origin?
3.

How could the government make you feel that your experiences and
perspectives were considered in migration policies?
