GYCA's mission is to empower youth leaders with technical assistance and capacity-building, advocacy training, networking and sharing of best practices to enable their participation at International AIDS Conferences (and other HIV/AIDS-related policy processes). GYCA accomplishes its mission by working in two tiers: the first with ICT-connected young people, and increasingly the second, with non-ICT connected youth, especially vulnerable youth (YLWHA, SWs, IDUs, MSMs). GYCA advocates for a human rights-based approach to HIV/AIDS interventions that includes full and accurate information, education and services. Because most young people are infected with HIV through sexual intercourse, GYCA reaffirms that sexual and reproductive health and rights must be integrated with HIV/AIDS interventions to succeed.
