In December 2009, the United Nations General Assembly adopted resolution 64/134 proclaiming the Year, signifying the importance the international community places on integrating youth-related issues into global, regional, and national development agendas. Under the theme Dialogue and Mutual Understanding, the Year aims to promote the ideals of peace, respect for human rights and solidarity across generations, cultures, religions and civilizations. Aim of the course The course aims at supporting youth activities in different areas as identified by the International Year of Youth, by developing the competences of young people in the development and implementation of youth projects. * * Methodology of the course The course will be run in the format of a long-term course. The course consists of six sub-programmes. The programmes will focus on areas identified in the International Year of the Youth as well as allow for project development. List of Sub-Programmes: 1. Health 2. Drug Abuse 3. Environment 4. Hunger 5. Education 6. Juvenile Delinquency The course is organised for young people around the world who are: a) Motivated to learn and work on issues most relevant to the youth; b) Initiate their own projects at the end of the course and be able to act as trainer for other youth c) Be aged between 18 and 30 years (preferably).
