	Round 1: The state of Youth Employment Overview -What are the effects of unemployment on youth? Unemployment is an enemy of the youth. Affecting them towards the negative life, crime, HIV/AIDS, violence, war and poverty are resultant products for youths. -What is the situation of youth unemployment in your country? The situation in Nigeria is called "Unfortunate" because it is aparantly the only country right now where a job for 4 posts are applied by over 100,000 people! Education -Does the educational system in your country adequately prepare young people for employment? In what ways is it successful / unsuccessful? The answer is yes and no at the same time because youth present a demographically srong group as well as vulnerable. More likely to become unemployed because the education is knowledge based and does now deal extensively on skills, but we have got a winner in the NEEDS document and in other initiative of the new govt. aimed at empowering youths to be active partners in solving the problem, through the review of the educational sector and the employment policies to carry youths along. -Does your educational system provide useful and accurate information about the current job market? No. I must answer a critical no based on the percentage of youths employed in school, In 1970 when the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) was established jobs were abundant that graduates found it difficult to choose where to work but today the story is becoming sorry! As youths search for work upto 10 years because of lack of information and skills of employability that the school refuse to give to her. Training -What kind of resources/training programs are available to prepare youth for employment in your country? The Youth Employment Summit and the National Employment Programme, Nnado Foundation and some NGOs offer programme on youth employment through capacity building, Training on ICTs for Entrepreneurship and Opportunities, Trade, and Business Management. - What has been successful/ unsuccessful in your country to prepare youth for employment? Nnado Foundation's Global Village Employment Project (GVEP) is gaining popularity and helping young people with skills for sustainable livelihood and employment while the National Employment Programme and National Poverty Reduction organization is now focusing on empowering the in and out of school youth to find work but it is not backed by legislation. Macroeconomic and National Policies -What national policies does your government operate to promote employment? What has been successful/ unsuccessful?
