In February, the United Nation’s Commission for Social Development (CSocD) will be meeting in its 47th session to discuss the issue of “Social Integration”. The commission will discuss the importance of inclusion, participation, and justice in creating “a society for all”. This consultation provides an exciting opportunity to contribute to this highly important debate as a report on the results will be delivered to delegates at the commission.
Youth comprise 1.2 billion people, but they are continually pushed out of decision making processes when, in fact, youth can be some of the most valuable input. In the 2007 World Youth Report, the United Nations recognizes that youth offer “unique aptitudes and perspectives”. “Social Integration” is an excellent topic for youth to be involved in because it addresses some of the issues where youth are so often pushed out. So please take a moment to answer these questions for your chance to get your voice heard!
The GYAN consultation to discuss the issue of social integration will take place between October 6-24, 2008. The discussions will then be presented at the CSocD in February 2009.
