Sujet: International Conference of Educators & Millennium Development Ambassadors on the MDGs

The Africa Regional Office of Teachers Without Borders in collaboration with the Gombe State Ministry of Education and the Federal College of Education (Technical), Gombe are organizing an International Conference of Educators and the Millennium Development
Ambassadors on the United Nations MDGs.
 
The conference will hold at the FCE(T) Gombe from November 3, 2008 and with the closing ceremony on November 6, 2008. His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Gombe
State is expected as the Special Guest of Honor and shall be decorated as Millennium Development Ambassador as well as His Wife and the wife of the Governor of Taraba State among other VIPs. His Excellency, Ambassador Uche Uche Ohafia shall serve as the Chairman of the Opening Session, and several other Millennium Development Ambassadors are coming from the Phillipines, USA, Kenya and Europe and many are offering to chair the various sessions. The theme of the conference is "The Role of Educators and Education in Acheiving the UN Millennium Development Goals".
 
The conference shall be used to showcase local initiatives to realize the MDGs. Realizing that at 59 million, teachers are the largest professional group in the world, the involvement of teachers in the efforts to implement programs for the MDGs can be an effective strategy to achieve MDGs 2015. The conference shall also be used to develop the manual "Teachers and the UN MDGs 2015", which shall feature best practices by teachers around Africa and the world in support of the MDGs.
