Subject: CIVIC EDUCATION UNILAG
Sent: Apr 10th, 2008 - 13:13:01

  NIGERIAN YOUTHS !!!
DO YOU KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON IN YOUR LOCAL GOVERNMENT?
YOU DESERVE TO KNOW THE FUNCTIONS OF YOUR LOCAL
GOVERNMENT!

The Coalition for Issue-based Politics and Good Governance
(CIPOGG) is planning to host a series of town hall meetings ahead of the
Lagos State local government elections. These meetings are aimed at promoting
awareness and understanding of the functions and responsibilities of the local
government in candidates and voters, and encouraging peaceful citizens’
participation in the voting process.

As one of CIPOGG’s main principles of consolidating good
governance involves civic education we have developed these town hall meetings
as opportunities for ordinary Lagosians to contribute in the search for
solutions to many of the issues that affect our daily lives and are hindering
the state’s sustainable development. These meetings are aimed to provide a
platform for citizens especially the youth to examine the candidates’
manifestoes and provide their own perspective on what needs to be done in their
communities.

Lets work together to strengthen the capacity of ordinary
citizens especially the youth to fulfil their civic duty through participation
in public debates, the act of voting, and expression of opinion between and
during elections.

VENUE: AFE BABLOLA AUDITORIUM UNIVERSITY OF LAGOS,
AKOKA

TIME: 10AM (NO AFRICAN TIME)

DATE: THURSDAY 10TH APRIL 2008
