My name is Jean Paul NKURUNZIZA.
I am the animator of a project named : "Articulating an effort to bridge
the digital divide to the fight against HIV/AIDS" for Burundi. It's a
joint project between the DSF ( Digital Solidarity Fund) and AIDSETI (
Aids Empowerment and Treatment International).
It is being implemented in Burundi and Burkina Faso now.
In Burundi, the DSF installed VSATs for organisations involved in the
fight against HIV/AIDS. Those VSAT with broadband internet connection are
to allow the use of
-telemedecine ( when a local Doctor in a liitle village who has hard case
to treat can be helped in visio conference by another Doctor located in
the capital city or even in Europe),
-E-training (our Doctors are now following online course throught the RAFT
( Reseau en Afrique Francophone pour la Télemedecine). This allow then to
have ongoing capacity building.
-Throught the online forum, Doctors are posting some difficult cases they
meet ( texts, photos)so that others can react by giving their opinion on
how to deal with such a case.
