Agenda - We will take two polarizing issues that came out of our group's timeline activity (the last meeting) and do an "Edges Exercise," where we use principles of non-violent communication to explore: - What tensions do you feel? [Situation] - What are the things the other group is doing (action-wise) that tell you they don't understand your perspective? [Observations] - What are the needs your group is trying to meet with this issue (refer to needs chart) ? [Needs] - What is a specific request you have of the other group to help you meet your needs -- 1 sentence statement of requests [Requests] This is just one of many models that can be used to deal with controversial issues -- Farah D.
