SUMMARY OF EVENTS
-The meeting began at 2.30 pm with a word of prayer.
-The new members were then briefed on the meaning and objectives of YTPA.
-The members were informed that YTPA had been lodged for Registration but the members had to wait for about three months to get the Registrars Certificate.
-Suggested the YTPA should carry out some activities to keep it active.
-Suggested that we should look for sponsors such as politicians to sponsor us in some of our activities.
-Suggested that some members should volunteer to approach some influential members in society for the benefit of the organization. Some of the persons suggested were Naomi Shaaban and Prof. Mwangombe among others.
-Suggested that we should take advantage of the political climate at the moment. That most of the politicians are eager to sponsor activities now that elections are around the corner so as to popularize themselves.
-Suggested that YTPA should have a website and consequently, should collect data and information to mount on that website. Every members photograph should appear on the website.
-Suggested that a visit to Taita should be organized. This will be to give talks to students in the various schools, giving them a challenge so that they can work hard to make it to the university. During the visit, members should wear the YTPA T-shirt, which should have been ready by then.
-It was also suggested that YTPA should hold a medical camp in Taita. It was also stated that there was a politician who was ready to sponsor the event. It was suggested that on this aspect, we should work with CUNSA, and in that respect, all the members of YTPA should be members of CUNSA.
-Suggested that different committees should be created to pursue the different activities, such as one working on the website and the other on the medical camp. Other members had earlier on suggested that the different activities should be carried out systematically, that is one at a time. But this was overruled, and it was agreed that the activities should be pursued concurrently.
-The suggested Website Committee members are Dan, Elvis, Kuto and Phillip. They are to work on the website. The proposed website should have the logo of the club, objectives, the history and the activities of the Association. It should also have the members photos. It was suggested that the Committee should come up with a structure and hand it over to Phillip. The Committee promised that that it would be ready by June 26, 2006.
-Suggested that some sponsors such as Companies should be asked to pay some fees so as to be allowed to advertise through our website.
-It was held that there was need for a committed leadership to take over from the current leadership, who are clearing school in a few months time. It was proposed that Maseghe Tairo should be the coordinator for the next five months. He was to be assisted by Phillip Maseghe.
-There was a proposal to open a joint Bank Account by three officials. The joint signatories were proposed as follows: Phillip and Tairo Maseghe and Stratton Mwambeo (being in a fiduciary position). The signatories were to contribute Kshs. 500 each in addition to the members contributions.
-The members were also urged to pay their registration and subscription fees so as to enable the Bank Account to be opened as soon as next week.
-It was suggested that the next meeting should be held on the 17th of June 2006 at the same venue at 2.00 pm.
-The meeting ended with a word of prayer.
