Subject: AYCC Applications now open! UN climate conference - AYCC Youth
Delegation

Please forward widely through your networks.
The Australian Youth Climate Coalition (AYCC) is currently accepting
applications to join the Australian Youth Delegation to the conference
and international negotiations for the UN Framework Convention on Climate
Change, 1-12 December 2008, at Pozna=F1 International Fair, Pozna=F1, Pola=
nd.
COP13 in Bali last December set the wheels in motion for what will become
'The Copenhagen Protocol' in December 2009, succeeding the Kyoto
Protocol. This December in Poland marks the halfway point in this
international policy negotiation. The global youth have a responsibility
to make their voice heard, to keep these negotiations on track and ensure
that our future is not hijacked by fossil fuel vested interests.
Following from the establishment in Bali of the International Youth
Caucus on Climate Change, youth from across the globe are now organising,
planning for Pozna=F1, to ensure that rationality prevails.
The Australian Youth Climate Coalition (AYCC) invites 20 Australian youth
to be a part of this process, forming the Australian Youth Delegation.
See attached or email ayd (at) youthclimatecoalition.org to recieve an
application form. Applications are due June 22.
The IPCC has warned that if we are to give ourselves a reasonable chance
of keeping global warming below a catastrophic and irreversible
threshold, global emissions must peak no later than 2015 - and that is
only 7 years away. Every year and month that is lost, through a lack of
urgent action by our planet's many governments, is a step closer to that
threshold.
This is where the youth of the world step up to intervene. In Poland, we
will demand urgent action to deliver a safe climate future.

The Australian Youth Climate Coalition unites youth organisations to
build a generation-wide movement to prevent climate catastrophe. Our
alliance combines our forces, leveraging our collective power to create
change for a clean, efficient, just and renewable energy future. We
inspire, educate, empower and mobilise young Australians to take action
on climate change. We coordinate, communicate and network with each
other, and run shared projects and campaigns.
