hi there,
My name is Sarah Ghabrial and I'm an intern with the Nobel Women's
Initiative (www.nobelwomensinitiative.com) operations in Ottawa, Canada.
A bit about the NWI: the Nobel Women's Initiative was formed in 2006 by
six women Nobel Peace Laureates (Mairead Corrigan, Shirin Ebadi, Betty
Williams, Wangari Maathai, Jody Williams, and Rigoberta Menchu Tum) with
the objective to address and prevent the root causes of violence by
spotlighting and promoting the efforts of women’s rights activists,
researchers and organizations working to advance peace, justice and,
equality.
I'm writing because I'm currently creating a page on our website
spotlighting the work of young women activists in various parts of the
world. I was hoping some of you might know of some campaigns/collectives
worth looking into. I'm looking for causes lead by (or at least
involving) young women (13-30), happening in the global south and north
- in particular, any groups focusing on anti-gender violence (political,
sexual, cultural, etc.). Do you know of some causes that deserve, and/or
could use, some attention? In short, is there something happening out
there that you wish more people knew about?
Any help or suggestions you could offer would be very much appreciated!
Thanks so much and have a lovely day!
