Dear Friends,
The International Women's Health Coalition (IWHC) is pleased to announce the
publication of *Child Marriage: Girls 14 and Younger At
Risk
* the latest issue brief in IWHC's series on young adolescents' sexual and
reproductive health and rights.
Girls married at 14 or younger face social and educational disadvantages, an
elevated risk of contracting sexually transmitted infections including HIV,
and complications in pregnancy and childbirth. By underscoring these
realities, *Child
Marriage
* argues for policies and programs that prevent the marriage of girls under
age 15; ensure that all adolescents' sexual, marital, and reproductive
transitions are safe, informed, and voluntary; and support girls who are
already married.
*Child marriage
*, as well as the other issue briefs in IWHC's series on young adolescents, can
be found at *http://www.iwhc.org/resources/youngadolescents*. Please let us
know what you think, and stay tuned for future installments.
Kind regards,
Kelly Castagnaro
Director, Communications Program
