Sujet: Global Youth Network Newsletters ...

... have been uploaded to the UNODC Youth Caucus page. This is the official
Newsletter of the Global Youth Network dealing with Youth and Drugs and
measures to combat illicit drug abuse by young people.

Honestly speaking I believe that the unregular publication of the newsletter and
the fact that the issues in the archive could not be properly opened is not of
advantage.

Further I sent an email to the representatives of the Network working within
UNODC. In the reply the representative suggested that my organization should
become part of the Network.
Essentially though, my organization has already signed up and is part of that
database. A few months ago I wrote an email asking for the correction of the
contact details. The reply was that everything had been updated. Still the
representative had no knowledge of the fact that the organization I am involved
in is already part of that network.

Further I should contact the Vienna NGO Committee whatever that is. The ways
that UNODC works with Youth Caucuses or Groups is not formalised.

Currently the Global Youth Network of UNODC is expiring and external partners in
different regions of the world are being searched for. I guess in the private
sector you call that "outsourcing" with the only difference that the NGOs might
be cheaper if not for free.

Some regional networks seem to have been established. Although when visiting
their websites you should speak Spanish as it is the only language in
which they are written. The other regional networks exist only in the form email
addresses.

I do believe that there is still some work ahead of us. I would suggest that you
visit the website of the Global Youth Network under
http://www.unodc.org/youthnet to get a clearer picture.

I would very welcome your suggestions and opinions to this topic. In the end,
lots of topics discussed at the UNODC are directly affecting young people
around the world - including drugs, organized crime, trafficking etc.

With kind regards and hoping to have started some discussions here
Irene
