The Report of May 22nd Online Meeting of The Young Literati International.

Introduction:

First and foremost, we will like to apologies for lateness in sending this report. Under normal circumstances, the report should have been sent before now, but due to some task before us for the progress of this organisation which are yet to be finished among which are printing of the constitution of the organisation, printing more copies of the membership form etc, at last, we are presenting the report of the proposed May 22 Online Meeting of this our organisation (TYLI) to you all for review. Although, the meeting could not be held due to the number of members available for the said meeting in which you will read the details in the subsequent sub-head below. Thank you for reading.

Proposed Welcome and Opening Address by the President TYL International.

It is a great privilege and pleasure to welcome you all to this online general meeting.

Firstly, I want to thank you all for bearing with this organisation despite the fact that we have not embarked on programmes that could be of interest to you.

So far so good, let me brief you some of the development as well as set back of my, your and our organisation is currently facing.

The organisation has over 300 members from over 15 countries and also partnering with more than 10 national and international projects. Recently (on March 26th, 2005), the organisation organized a general workshop themed "Optimizing Your Youth" in which over 30 members participated despite short of fund of the organisation.

Presently, the organisation is lobbying to start a Radio program in one of the radio stations in Nigeria.

Despite these development, the organisation is currently facing a lot of set back in achieving its aims and objectives. Some of which are: Internet facilities, Insufficient information within and outside the organisation, Fax machine, Official website, Colour printer for printing pamphlets and letters, Stationeries, Electric Generator, as well as you personal and official commitment and contribution, etc.

There was a time when some invitations were sent to TYL International to attend a conference in Gambia and France, but the invitations were received late because there is no Internet facility which hinders information and communication problem to the organisation.

Lack of fund and sponsors are also posing a serious problem and set back to development of TYL International, which is stopping us from embarking on projects and programmes.

The issues before us today or the reason for this meeting are to:

(1) Tell you all aims and objectives of this organisation.

(2) To seek for your full support for the development of our organisation’s aims and objectives through your total commitment.

(3) Expressing the challenges facing the organisation for you to suggest the way out from these challenges, which are thus stated above.

(4) How you can act as a path to the development of this organisation and other youth through this organisation (TYL Int).

(5) By letting us know how individual can contribute to the development of the organisation?

Once again, thanks for the privilege given to us and your contribution will be highly appreciated.

To conclude, as we are planning for another Children’s day on May 27th, let us think on how we will unite and influence the global village positively. Remember, to be youthful is to be useful.

Aremu Olakanmi John,

The President.

TYL International.

Above was the welcome and opening address proposed to be delivered by the President of the Organisation on that day (May 22nd, 2005) even though, the meeting was attended by:

(1) Aremu Olakanmi John (President)

(2) Aijotan Olugbenga (UK Coordinator)

(3) Awosakin Yemi (Nigeria)

(4) Natalie (Ukraine)

It should be noted that; Rahel Weldeab a member from Eritrea, took permission from the President with the excuse that her country’s Independent day was celebrated in that week. In addition, Adebisi Oluwatola a member from Nigeria came online at the exact time of the meet but went offline when the meeting did not start on time because no one has ever came online then expects the President who was the moderator at the online meeting.

In short, the meeting did not take place because it is written in our constitution under Article VIII (C) that:

EMERGENCY MEETING / SPECIAL GENERAL MEETING: This may be training, seminar, forum, awareness, campaign, etc which shall be summoned at any time at the instance of the President / Coordinator (incase of intra regional) or at the written request of at least ten (10) of all the registered Constituent Branches, may be called as deemed fit, provided the meeting is attended by:

· The President or Vice President or any member of the Pillion Committee / Annex Coordinator.

· Secretary General or Assistance Secretary General / Annex Secretary.

· Representative of at least three of the registered constituent branches (applicable to international / inter-regional only).

Putting the above section of the constitution into consideration, the quorum for this meeting was not met.

3

CONCLUSION: It’s a great pain to the organisation that the meeting was not held and we hope that you will read the Welcome Address of the President and render appropriate assistance to this organisation by sending in your contribution / suggestion towards resolving the problem of this our organisation (TYL International) to tylieditors (at) yahoo.com as soon as possible as your contributions will be highly appreciated. Once again, we apologize for the lateness in giving the report of the May 22 Online General meeting.

Thanks,

TYL International Team.
