Dear all,
The World Youth Congress 2003 held in Casablanca Morocco and I was the only one Tanzanian representative who attended it. I would love to share with you the attached article below appeared on post Congress report publication (Target 2015).Its a document promoting UN Millennium Development Goals and it covered all about the MDGs and the initiatives of youths on it. The article appeared on publication as a Example of a successful youth-led project, its talking about my work for social changes especially on MDG 6 based on HIV/AIDS. Let me quote two UNs representatives who attended the Congress with us in Morocco what they said on youths initiatives and it related with what young people are doing and wants to archive if you read the article covered about my work for social change below through Teenage Life Programme in Tanzania. What everyone at the table can agree on, is that young people are at the canter of the AIDS Crisis, and what happens to them will determine the future of
the epidemic Carol Bellamy, Director, UNICEF and The Secretary Generals Executive Co-coordinator for the MDGs campaign said Youth can do so many things: they can take action as volunteers-environmentalists, entrepreneurs and activist for social justice. If you look at any of the great campaign of recent years, young people always, been at the front of them. This Campaign will be no different. We are depending on you. Their speeches at Congress was wonderful and it was my stage ahead to get opportunity to experience more and then later attend the IHEYO conference in Uganda and became a members organization and The International Youth Parliament in Sydney Australia in 2004 and am now IYP Action Partner 2004-2006.As a member of Global Coalition on HIV/AIDS,LCYD etc and MDGs Promoter, I'm dedicating my time and energy to help the community. Please read the article below and come up with any suggestion. Forward this to others too. Thanks.
Regards,
Leonard Boniface (Lenny)

The Teenage Life Programme, which works to combat AIDS, began in Dar-Es-Salaam, where Lenny Boniface saw that a lack of awareness of HIV/AIDS and certain behaviours and attitudes of young people were helping to spread the disease. He started giving talks and workshops to create awareness not only about HIV/AIDS but also prostitution, rape, drug abuse, drunkenness, and social responsibility. At first it was difficult, with many young people not wanting to talk about such things, or thinking they were too busy to deal with serious issues, but soon he was welcomed by schools and colleges all over Tanzania. Lenny has even produced a nationally broadcast documentary which spread his message throughout Tanzania. Lenny says, "I want to wake young people up to the problems that affect our country now and in our future, so that they can tackle them. We need not feel quite so powerless."
