THE REASON FOR THE YOUNG LITERATI INTERNATIONAL (TYLI) AS A YOUTH DEVELOPMENT, EMPOWERMENT, UNIFICATION, NETWORKING AND ACTIVISM ORGANIZATION.
The Young Literati International (TYLI) is an organization of enthusiasm youth who come together to: bring the young together through equal opportunity, tolerance and peace among the people of the world, train youth for leadership, as well as youth activism through the use of literature material such as poetry, article, graffitis, music, prosaic, cartoon, prose, drama, film, etc. TYLI is a Non-Governmental Organization that existed before with 8 members, who were from different cultural backgrounds, but which was made international for the young ones through-out the universe in March, 2004. It has over 300 members presently (as at December, 2004), from different regions (not every members name is on the group page: http://groups.takingitglobal.org/TYLI-group), but looking forward to having members from all the available regions in the world and have a minimum of 2/3 of the worlds young population as its member by the year 2015. TYLI vision is to be a virtuoso in youth development,
empowerment, activism, and unification with the largest youth network, while our mission is to offer world-class services in youth development, empowerment, activism, and unification through physical participation and the use of affiliated literature materials such as electronic media (e.g. play, movie, etc) printed materials (e.g. prose, prosaic, poetry, graffiti, article, creative painting, etc).
Without much emphasis, the reasons for existence of this organization are for:
Youth development: In the world today, the young ones/ youths are facing the challenges of discrimination which could be in the labour market, society, midst of friends, etc which could be as a result of racism, ethnicity, social, physical, mental and emotional difference. This organization is making sure that the young ones/ youth are free from these forms of challenges that is why our organization (TYLI) does train, build young peoples profile/ career to free from these type of challenges as well as towards eliminating of these challenges and build a world of equal opportunity.
This organization does work in partnership with some organizations who are really in global education. For example, this organization is introducing its members to a certificate course in Conflict analysis which is organized by the United States Institute Of Peace (USA). Apart from this, our organization also engages in youth development through organizing and coordinating of training, seminar, workshop, and the likes.
Our organization is making sure that the young people build/develop themselves through creation/development of their own initiatives, innovations, etc as well as through government, society, and other international organizations, etc. In short, our organization is building the world of enthusiasm youths through our programme themes " WORLD OF OUR OWN."
Youth Empowerment: The young people existence, rights etc, needs to be recognized in the society, at home, and in the world generally. The young people needs to be authorized at home, in the society and in the world. Although, the United Nations (UN) is making sure this is done and achieved, but organizations need to work with them in achieving this as soon as possible. In one of the notable quote of the Secretary General of the United Nations (Mr. Kofi Anna):
"These young people are not only the leaders of tomorrow, they can play a leading role in the development of their communities today
Let us hope that their good works today blossom into life long commitments that will benefit the entire worlds people."
This above statement signifies the empower of youths in the nearest future, but it should be noted that the young people can only play a leading role in the development of their communities today and blossom into life commitments
if only they (young people) are empowered yesterday as well as today and they are given a say at home, society, and in the world.
Our organization is making sure that the young people are empowered both at home, society and of the world generally.
Youth Networking: Through youth networking, the young people interact, exchange ideas and information to strengthen their profiles/ careers, relationship, knowledge, etc which often leads to innovations, initiatives, enthusiasm, etc and mostly to unification of the global communities and its occupant (the people). Our organization encourages networking of youths, which is also an instrument of global unification and development.
Youth Unification: For young ones to be well recognized in the global communities, there is a need for unification of the young people. It should be noted that unification automatically bring about development and empowerment. If the youths are not unified, it will always lead to global destabilization, crises and unrest. It should be noted that "united we are recognized and divided we are neglected."
Our organization is discouraging the youths about the act of violence and telling them the consequence, which form-part some of reason for youth neglect because no development can take place where there is crises, violence or any form of global destabilization. When the youths engage in act of violence, disruption and disturb, the resources that the youths need for development are diverted to the mean of stopping these acts (violence).
Our organization is pooling the youths together for peaceful existence of the world without any form of discrimination, because it has being universally believed that "no crises without youth participation". Our organization is making sure that the young people are not accused of this above statement any more and again by making sure that the youths are unified for peaceful existence of the world.
Youth Activism: In the world, activism is very essential. Although nowadays there has being a change in the way activism is carried out. Activism this time around is now carried out in a non-violence ways. In the present world, policies and development these days can be achieved effectively with some act of activism. Activism makes a policy and development to be perfected. Without activism, youth and global development cannot be perfected. The global development means youth development and vice- versa.
As we all known that activism is essential in global development, our organization (TYLI) carries out activism through physical participation and the use of affiliated literature materials such as electronic media (e.g. play, movie, etc) printed materials (e.g. prose, prosaic, poetry, graffiti, article, creative painting, etc). For example, in the ancient Greek, drama, cartoon, scripture, creative painting, etc were used to expressed what affected the society then, our organization engage in activism through the use of literature materials like: prose, article, graffiti, Poetry, scripture, creative painting, lyrics, play etc.
CONCLUSION
Summarily, our organization (TYLI) engages in youth development through organizing of training, seminar, workshop, etc because no global development without youth development and participation vice-versa "they can play a leading role in the development of their communities today
Let us hope that their good works today blossom into life long commitments that will benefit the entire worlds people."
Our organization also engage in youth networking through the use of forum, conferencing etc as well as youth empowerment through activism and building young peoples profile (i.e. through organizing of training, workshop, etc).
Without exaggeration, one will conclude that our organization is aiming at youth and global development in a peaceful global environment because the youth and the universe work together. You are encouraged to help actively in achieving the aims and objectives of our organization towards youth development, empowerment, networking, unification and activism all in a peaceful global environment through your participation, support and encouragement. Remember "To be youthful is to be useful."
