Objet : [TYC] Meeting report
Hi all,
Sorry for the delay, I've been busy this week, here is the report of the meeting we
had last tuesday:
PS I heard about the WSIS questionnaire who is in charge of this and when can we
start distributing it?It's interesting to have the results ready while doing the
worksop on the WSIS
-A.L-
Actually, Manel,Iheb Dammak and Me, worked on this questionnaire (there was a
specific meeting on 19/01/2005,see TYC messages) for the planned universities's
workshops as you said. We need to review it to be distributed. When and where can we
do it? Who is intersted to contribute?
-A.L-
We tried to list the different projects of the national campaign and the teams of
each project:
1) GYSD:
As many of us will be sitting for exams on the normal date (7th April), we decided
to postpone the event to the 23rd and 24th April. We'll present the National
Campaign and we'll give opportunity for outh to see other organisations work as
well, in some way this is part of the National Campaign work : to involve youth in
civil society.
The team of this project is not clearly defined yet, if someone is interested pls
make us propositions or take part.
-A.L-
I'll be happy to help preparing such an intersting event for Tunisian Youth. We need
to setup up a planning and begin inviting Organisations and association that we
listed before.
Philip, could you please send the invitation letter to translate it? Or is it done?
Sould we prepare a brochure or some stuff in this kind to present Eltaller's Youth
Program and Activities? Who can help?
Rim (as you're coordinator of this project), have you seen the GYSD ToolKit we can
get inspired of some ideas or suggestion from it? Or have you set up a detailed
planning? If not let we do it the sooner possible and ditribute tasks to who wants
among us to contribute to organising the 1st GYSD in Tunisia. Should we plan for a
specific meeting?
-A.L-
2) Radio project:
The name of this project in the National campaign will be "Voices of Youth", "Voices
of Tunisian Youth".
We will need to have several groups in different universities. We're starting by
INSAT and Heythem will try to be the correspondant of Sup'Com.
As for the INSAT team, the members are :
-Ellouze Mariem
-Amel laouini
-Manel Jaziri
-Salma N
-Meriem Radhi
-Itidel Chetoui
-Aymen Chehata
-Rym Nour
If anybody is interested in this project among TYC members who are studying in other
universities especially outside Tunis (Sousse, Sfax, Bizerte, Hammamet...) or can
have access to other communities of youth pls join us.
We are also working on defining the strategy of the National campaign as a hole and
of this poject in particular
-A.L-
In glad that things with Online Radio Programm are getting real.
What do you thing of a periodic meeting (every week maybe) to set up programms for
the "Voices of Tunsian Youth"?
Philip, Mariem, for technical stuff to store and proccess interviews hwo will we do?
Hathem, have you dealed with kuba in this order?
-A.L-
3) Open forums
We'll be treating the following subjects :
-Immigration (no working group for now)
-AIDS (we have to contact Nesrine)
-Voluntarism (Mariem Ellouze (Croissant Rouge Tunisien, Meriem Radhi, Rim Nour
(Scouts), Manel Jaziri)
-WSIS(??)
The first workshop will be on voluntarism most probably at the INSAT by next April.
If any TYC member have suggestions pls tell us
-A.L-
Themes/subjects to be discussed in the Open Forums are many. As Rim said : These
Open Forums not only fit into waha Project or the objectives of the Wsis National
Campaign, but they will one of the means we'll use to raise awarness and let the
youth voices heard, connect them with organisations and associations of interest.
According to me, we need to encourage youth to get engaged in issues of interest for
them not only to discuss them. So having contact persons in each OF is really
important.
-A.L-
4) The MILSET issue
Amel and Mariem E with Philip's help will try to coordinate with them. They have
planned a meeting in next may but the three of us will meet them as soon as Philip
will schedule a meeting. Heythem said he may help us.
-A.L-
We sould look at the Momerandum that Marouen cited before planning. Philip, have you
got this document?
-A.L-
5) Database
Aymen is preparing /has already prepared the on line registration, ant other
comments Aymen??
Philip said we will include this in the Wa7a project
6) The secretariat of Youth Caucus
We need to define exactely our task as a secretariat what, how many,
accomodation...and to establish a program for young people coming to Tunisia after
the summit : some workshops and cultural activities...
-A.L-
I agree, we will discuss it during next meeting.

Hi guys,
(en anglais) da!!!
things are about to get real.
the last meeting was interesting: I hope someone put down the important points for
circulation.
lets make those working groups active.
Thursday's briefing of the work on the WSIS was not easy as Rim, Manel and
Meriem(2) may recall. We think that it was the first day of the National Campaign.
Rim and Manel put together a wonderful presentation on Phase I, II, the structure of
the Summit, groups/caucuses (families) etc and then situated the youth caucus within
this larger framework. We also updated the group on the themes of our campaign: The
role of youth in civil society.
The points that arose were:
resistance to the summit itself (guided or misguided) the need to focus on issues
and themes around youth beyond participation.
the need for lobbying on points related to youth at the Summit e.g.
knowledge present in communities in the global south that are being marginalized by
new technologies.
Meriem, Rim and Manel: please add any important points, observations etc that I missed.
thank you all for calmly taking the heat.
many kind regards and much admiration as always.
Philip
