Hi all,

The following is some information on a March break opportunity for
Toronto-area (secondary) students. TakingITGlobal will be taking part as a
presenter on one of the days. The program will be run by the Toronto YMCA,
in partnership with the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).

From their site ( http://www.ymcatoronto.org/goglobal/ ):
(Also see the attached PDF)

The Go Global Program is a two-tiered approach to encouraging the
integration of a global perspective in teaching. It offers students the
opportunity to explore their role as global citizens by enabling them as
peer-educators and provides teachers with meaningful collaborative learning
models and the tools for classroom application. This project would raise
awareness of global issues through peer-to-peer learning and would raise
awareness of peer-to-peer learning through global education.

The Go Global Program

The objectives of this program are:

* To enable students to explore citizenship in a global context
* To raise awareness of global issues through peer-to-peer learning, and
to raise awareness of peer-to-peer learning through global education
* To support teachers in providing learner-centred opportunities for a
global perspective in the classroom

The Go Global program will initially train thirty grade10 and 11 students
from 15 Toronto high schools. These youth Global Educators will create
workshops that they will run with 3 different groups at their school, with
students in grades 9-12, reaching a total of 1,350 students. A Teacher's Kit
will be provided to teachers from participating schools with resources,
activities and tools for "Building a Global Perspective in a learner-centred
classroom."
