Envoyé: Feb 18th, 2004 - 07:03:49

The Managing Director of systemspecs,Mr John Obaro has
called on Nigerian government and businesses to be more
responsive to the outlook of West Africa Countries who
believe that there are more than enough quality
software solution developed in Nigeria which they can
take advantage of.

In his presentation, "eGovernment:Developing ICT
capacity in government and its institutions"he urged
African governments to make a bolder attempts at
implementing appropriate solutions that would promote
issues of accountability and efficiency in public
service.Though he acknowledged that the task of
automating government operation can be quite daunting
because basic support infrastructure are still not in
place,he however believes that if there is committed
will by government, things would move forward very
significantly.

Hon. Kan Dapaah,Ghana's Minister of
communications, whose Ministry in conjunction with CTN
and Deloite & Touche organized the event, said success
by government in the deployment of technology in the
public sector will depend largely "on the
enterpreneurial initiative and drive of the private
sector and the extent to which the private sector
chooses to collaborate with the public sector".He also
said that the government of Ghana has accepted that as
an emerging economic, they stand to benefit from the
potentials ICT offers for accelerated development if
they strategically position themselves.

HumaManager,Africa's leading Human capital Management
software for payroll,human services and
pensions/gratuity administration was exhibited at the
event. Also exhibited were some other products and
services provided by both local and international
