Hi Everyone,
Time is ticking away and the Eco Conference being held at the college is fast approaching! As a result, we have little enough time left to get our group's materials ready for our part in the conference. One major goal is to have materials ready and on-hand to present as a part of our display at the conference. This, and other work, needs to be accomplished as soon as we are able. Hence, all those who wish to lend a hand are encouraged to meet at East Side Mario's this Saturday, March 8th, at Noon to brainstorm, plan, and produce materials for the upcoming conference.
Any and all who are interested and available are, again, encouraged to come and lend a hand, whether or not you have attended our meetings so far. While we do intend to work, this will be a fun event which will help strengthen our group and make clear our group's goals and our mission as a major part of the student voice in environmental and sustainability issues. This upcoming event will lend a great deal of credibility and establish our group as a major player on campus as well as within the community, regarding these issues, if we are able to present ourselves appropriately.
We are also looking for volunteers to help with the conference. We will need knowledgeable individuals to represent the group at our conference booth. Also, this week we are helping to confirm guests of the conference by telephone. We are making the calls from the college during business hours. If you can help, please let us know! As well, the conference organizers need students to act as guides for speakers and guests of the conference in order to ensure that they can navigate the college and find the sessions that they are looking for. Volunteers are allowed access to the conference as a perk of these duties. If you, or anyone you know who has expressed interest in the conference, are interested in volunteering, please let me know as soon as you can, or send a message to the group at SECS (at) groups.takingitglobal.org ... As you can see, there are plenty of opportunities to become involved. This conference is a door of opportunity for our group and for Thunder Bay in general. Now is your chance to make a difference!
