Hey kate,

Im sorry ot hear about your mom's friend. I give you my regards for Patsy.
That was quite teh e-mail. unfortunatly I havent gotten the chance just yet
to see what some of those sites are all about. Sounds like you had a
fabulous time in saltspring. Ive always liked it out there. so nice and
fresh. makes you feel like you are away form the rest of the world. lol. Im
defiently not being here. its so stressfull already being back at school
with so much work. I was in Ft. McMurray for 1 month expecting work doing
archaeology in the region but it kept getting posponed so that was
frustrating.  I had a fabulous time in Greece and turkey though. Ill send
you some photos when i get them uploaded on my computer. since being back in
Calgary all Ive been doing is unpacking and moving into the house, and
homework. I have so much homework already!!! its only week two and
I have all these long chapters to read in each of my classes and in my Greek
class I have to memorize over 100 words already. and learnign the spelling
of them too is extremely hard. I need to get my ass in gear though. I find
it interesting but really its so disheartening when you look at the work
that needs to be done and feel as though you will never learn it. ugh. my
heads up right now though. I may get a tutor so I have someone to practice
with. A friend of mine has come back fro mAfghanistan and we will be going
to lethbridge to go visit him,. hes throwing a party this saturday. we saw
him here in calgary for 3 days and showed us a lot of pictures. I also when
to a meeting last night where there was a Curnal, (cant spell but its as it
sounds) two professors of millitary, and a women whose with an association
that works for improving women's rights in Afghanistan. it was very
moving and interesting to hear what all of them had to say. One of the
professors though was extremely rude in some of his arguments against the
war and I felt that some of it wasnt holding ground. some things were
interesting points but I never felt more informed on Canada's role then I
did last night.  Its so easy to follow one point of view and hearing what
others say its easy to follow along but if you really do research and inform
yourslef on both sides Ive found you learn so much more and become more
involved in improving one's beliefs and opinions, etc. I was not really for
the war or against it but I've learned more about the things that I was
misinformed about originally. I completely agree with you in your e-mail
about how especially as students we forget that we are the future and that
our vote and opinions count and are extremely important. we cant sit back
and
not play a role in Canada's future whether it be the job market or its
politics. we must educate ourselves and others. of both sides before making
a final decision. I loved hearing from you kate. Ive missed you so much. it
was my 21st birthday on saturday (last) and it kinda sucks cause the people
who I most wanted to spend it with werent there. I wanted to ask when yours
was as well .I think its past so I wanted to wish you a happy belated
birthday and hope I get to see you sometime soon.

miss you tons,

Love,

  Julie
