	Call for Application: JAAIDS Youth Internship Programme Journalists Against AIDS has openings for four (4) youth volunteers to join its youth internship programme. The JAAIDS Youth Internship Programme is a leadership programme that builds the leadership skills of young Nigerians using an AIDS internship. The interns will gain on the job experience while working in a structured organization like JAAIDS. Aside providing learning opportunities for young people to respond to the HIV/AIDS epidemic among their peers in Nigeria the youth interns will receive on the job mentoring and coaching from experienced staff and will be exposed to a variety of training programs that will identify and develope their leadership abilities and potentials. The period of internship is six (6) months, with possible extension to one (1) year. Successful interns will be placed in our Lagos or Abuja office. This programme is open to out of school youths awaiting admission into the university and young people between the ages of 16 to 25 years. It is a full time internship and will require interns to report to work Monday through Friday,every weekInterns will also receive a monthly stipend. Youth interns will assist programme staff in project implementation and perform other related tasks including liasing with the organization's stakeholders. They will be exposed to a variety of leadership skills development and learning opportunities and will be able to develope themselves rapidly in several areas of AIDS programming/interventions. They will also be provided with small grants to implement two youth-focused projects during the period of their internship. Interested young persons must possess the following: 1. Secondary school certificate with minimum of five credits including English language 2. Must be able communicate fluently in English 3. Must be smart, focused and energetic 4. Must be able to relate well with people 5. Must be willing to work in the field of HIV and AIDS 6. Must not be younger than 16 or older than 25 years by February 2007 7. Should be resident in Lagos or Abuja Interested persons must submit an essay (no more than 300 words) on the topic: "My commitment to an HIV-free youth population".
