  Dear All,

Questions 1). Do you feel that the public services offered in your country reflect the needs and wishes of young people? What is your experience in using public services?

Answer: let us go directly to the point . It is abundantly clear that public services being provided in post conflict arrears are not benefiting young people , particularly those residing in rural areas. In war ravaged Liberia , the situation is worse regarding government public service namely Public Transportation, Libraries , and Public Schools Systems.

Majority of the public schools operate with inadequate chairs and poor teaching facilities. According to the Education Minister, there are more than 40 percent of public school Institutions are not qualify, this is a direct setback for millennium development goals. Thousands of young people will not receive quality education. Thousands of young people are not benefiting from government public transportation system. They are usually late for schools or appointment due to this situation. Bad public transport system led to early death of thousands of young people in post conflict areas . Public Libraries operate without electricity and out dated books. The for examples ,the government ministries libraries operate without internet facilities causing young people to be denied information. This also builds the foundation for rampant corruption.

Question 2). What can governments do to improve their public services and make sure they reflect the needs of their citizens?

Answer: The solution to addressing such problems , government should increase budgetary allotment on public utilities and ensure that such funds are spent to improve the lives of its citizens. Government should also ensure that individuals who pocket funds allotted to public service should be severely punish in line with the laws or send to life imprisonment. In Liberia , the Public Work Ministry constructed the Jalla Town Road that was condemned by President Sirleaf, yet the Minister is not sack for doing such a bad work that is intended to benefit the public .
