> PROGRESS REPORT OF NATIONAL YOUTH SERVICE CORPS FAMILY LIFE AND HEALTH EDUCATION PROJECT UKWA WEST LOCAL GOVERNMENT.
>
> INTRODUCTION:
>
> With the skills and training acquired during the 5 days training on camp, we have been able to reach out to students in the place of our primary assignment. The project is quite an interesting one bearing in mind the lives of tomorrow leaders. As one of the means of bringing sanity to moral decadence of the country, FLHE facilitators find this project a worthwhile one in improving lives and destiny. This actually within the few months sharpens blunt destinies and brings hope to the hopeless.
>
> TARGET AUDIENCE
>
> Due to time constraint, we are unable to reach the upper primary. We are limited to lower secondary because of some challenges that will be stated below. In short we focused LOWER SECONDARY in our local government.
>
> SCHOOL ADOPTED
>
> With much struggle we were able to simultaneously, adopt two schools within the local government. Though it was found very difficult to get these schools because of the tight schedule of the school. The names are: CHYVIC MODEL SECONDARY SCHOOL OBEHIE and LADY VICTORIA JUNIORATE UMUORIE.
>
> ATTENDANCE
>
> The attendance in both schools were encouraging, in CHYVIC MODEL SECONDARY SCHOOL OBEHIE we have about 120 students in attendance and 102 in LADY VICTORIA JUNIORATE UMUORIE.
>
> REACTION FROM STUDENTS
>
> The students find the project a helping one. They were able to pour out their mind and we were able to discover so many problems faced by these children
>
> DAYS OF LECTURE
>
> We meet with them every Thursdays 12 noon and 3.00pm respectively. Though quite hectic on the part of the facilitators, because of our passion for the project we inconvenient ourselves to sustain the vision.
>
> REPORT
>
> We forward our report monthly to the schedule officer in charge of this project through our Area Inspector (A.I.) with photograph attached.
>
> CHALLENGES
>
> Inability to get school to adopt on time. Lack of support from our Area Inspector and the C.L.O. by involving us in other group CDS. Inability to make this project one of the CDS groups. Financial bottleneck, this project was financed from our purse while we are still physically and financially committed to other CDS group. This is the major challenge we faced we spend and we were spent. No compensation, no encouragement. The places were quite far. It was not easy.
>
> FINDINGS
>
> We discovered that majority of this children are suffering in silence. In one of the schools LADY VICTORIA JUNIORATE UMUORIE to be precise we discovered lesbians there since was girls' school. A lot of these young children were being initiated into these heinous act ignorantly but though the help of FLHE they were been enlightened. Parents are far from their children leaving them at the mercy of peers to be thought some moral principles and values because of this many were misled.
>
> RECOMMENDATIONS
>
> This project should be adequately financed. Facilitators should be provided with the necessary materials needed. Followed up team should be set up. Site should be created to enroll the students in other to update them. Magazine or newsletter is necessary to educate these pupils the more. Local government should be carried along officially on this project so as to be financially committed.
>
> CONCLUSION
>
> We were able to round every thing up with question and answer and we prayed with this students and the country at large. It was quite an interesting time.
