ACOMIN : Call for Applications
Association of Civil Society Organizations in Malaria, Immunization and
Nutrition(ACOMIN) is the national coordinating network for civil society
organizations working on Malaria and has membership in all the 36 states
of Nigeria and the FCT.
The objectives of ACOMIN include:
-Capacity building for member organizations,community mobilization and
development,Resource mobilization and subgranting to member organizations
advocacy; monitoring and evaluation and project coordination.
ACOMIN is a co-beneficiary of the Community Systems Strengthening
component of the Health Systems Strengthening Project, and a Sub Recipient
to Society for Family Health under the Malaria Grant of Global Fund for
HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria Round 8 Grant.
In order to implement the above and also attain the stated goals and
objectives of ACOMIN, the National Executive Council is looking for a team
of committed and competent staff to fill the relevant positions
The key requirements for each position are as stated below:
1. National Programmes Coordinator:
The National Programmes Coordinator will be responsible for developing
and managing ACOMIN as an independent non-governmental organization for
the mobilization of a concerted community response to Malaria,
Immunization and Nutrition. S/He shall participate in representing the
organization nationally and internationally to share, learn and
participate in efforts towards addressing Malaria and surrounding issues
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in leadership and
management positions in a similar organization and will have the following
attributes:
- Understanding of and practical experience in networking and partnership
building; supporting and provision of technical assistance to partnering
organizations, report writing and dissemination
- Excellent communication skills in English oral and written
- Working knowledge of and commitment to gender equity, human rights and
performance based programming
- High level people relational skills, capacity for team work and commitment
to values of transparency, integrity and accountability
- Competence in influencing and formulating policy, advocacy, resource
development and donor relations; regional and international linkages,
strategic thinking,short and long term strategic and tactical planning
- Experience and competence in developing systems, policies and intervention
strategies in line with the National Malaria Control Programme
- Experience in dealing with Governance Boards, preparing and delivery of
reports, taking notes and writing minutes of meetings
- Capacity for managing technical, professional and administrative staff
in a participatory and inclusive manner
- Capacity for independent study, research and development of concepts,
ideas and proposals for mobilizing resources for ACOMIN
- Exposure to management level participation in managing Global Funds
Grants will be an added advantage
Qualifications and competencies:
I. Minimum of Bachelors Degree in the Social Sciences, law, medicine or
humanities. Possession of a post graduate degree in the social sciences
or public health will be an added advantage
II.Ten years of relevant experience in Civil Society work, managing
Networks/Coalitions; human resource management and leadership; financial
and administrative management and coordination; capacity building and
large grants management
III.Computer literacy, with proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel
and Powerpoint applications
IV.High leadership skills, particularly using team building and participatory
approaches to leadership.
V. Ability to work with minimum supervision, and be self motivated and
committed to Results Based management principles
VI.Ability to relate to other health issues particularly HIV/AIDS and
Tuberculosis
2.Monitoring and Evaluations Manager:
The ideal candidate for this position will have responsibility for the
setting up and coordination of M & E systems,collection, collation and
dispersal of data on Malaria related issues. The M & E Officer will lead
the processes of designing the M & E components of all ACOMIN Projects
and ensure the collation, retrieval and analysis of data collected.
The candidate will possess the following attributes:
- Possess a minimum of bachelors degree in the social sciences, public
health, law or Arts.
- Must have at least five years cognate experience of monitoring and
evaluation at senior staff or management levels
- Must have valid experience of community development work at
community levels
- Must have high levels of skill in team work, group facilitation skills
and ability to build capacity of M & E officers of member organizations
- Must possess good oral and communication skills, and be proficient in
the usage of relevant information technology packages
Qualifications and competencies: (as applicable to the National Programmes
Coordinator above)
3. Chief Accountant:
The ideal candidate will have responsibility for the deevelopment and
efficient functioning of the Organizations financial systems and procedures
in line with the principles of integrity and accountability and will prepare
financial reports and financial statements for ACOMIN ,thus enhancing the
work of the network.In addition, the Chief Accountant will advice the
National Programmes Coordinator and the Management Team regarding strategies
to strengthen the financial and administrative functions of ACOMIN and its
member organizations.
The candidate will have the following attributes amongst others:
1.A minimum of Bachelors degree or HND in Accounting and membership of a
recognized accounting body
2.Comprehensive knowledge of Not for Profit accounting and financial
principles and related reporting issues to Top Management and Governance
Boards
3.Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office packages and financial packages
such as Quickbooks and Excel
4.Good interpersonal relations and team work ethics
5.The Chief Accountant must have financial accounting, management and
analytical skills and be financially rigorous and prudence in managing
financial and other resources
6.Ability to meet tight deadlines and be able to work with accuracy under
pressure
7.Five years cognate experience in donor financial management and reporting
8. Knowledge of Global Funds Accounting standards and procedures will be an
added advantage
Qualifications and competencies: (as applicable to the National Programmes
Coordinator above).
4. Administrative and Communications Manager:
The Administrative and Communications Manager is primarily responsible
for the sound and efficient functioning of the Organization's
administrative and communication systems and procedures.
He/She will have primary responsibility for setting up and ensuring a
functional flow of relevant information for community groups, national
and international organizations and professionals working in this area.
The Administrative and Communications Manager will manage all ACOMIN
Information gathering, collation and dissemination processes which
will include the publication of newsletters and other documents.
The job holder will be responsible for the development and set up of a
Partnership, networking, advocacy and communication policy within the
Network. The ideal candidate will posses the following attributes amongst
others:
1.A minimum of Bachelors degree or HND in the Social Sciences, Law or
Humanities
2.At least five years of high level experience in administration and or
communications units in a similar Network
3.Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office packages such as Word, Access,
Publisher
4.Excellent knowledge of data base creation and management
5.Good interpersonal relations and team work ethics
6.Experience in Network management and relationship building
7.Good working knowledge of relevant administrative and communication
related policies
8.Ability to meet tight reporting and communication deadlines and be able
to work with accuracy under pressure
9.Knowledge of Global Funds operations and procedures will be an added
advantage
Qualifications and competencies: (as applicable to the National Programmes
Coordinator above).
Conditions of Service: All positions are Senior Management posts based in
Abuja with frequent national and occasional international travel. The
positions offer conducive conditions of service consistent with and in
line with similar national organizations.
