Poser:
Discussion will focus on critical infrastructure needs in the Niger-delta region and the implications for youth development. If we need electricity, what impact will it have on youth development? if we need good roads and an effective transportation system, what impact will it have on youth development? As in the previous two days, it will be nice to highlight best practices related infrastructure development in other developing countries and how the strength of the youth was utilised.

Infrastructure plays an important role in all facets of development. Therefore, government and private sector commitment to fulfilling infrastructural needs in the Niger Delta would to a great extent contribute to youth development - creating job opportunities, road provides easy access to amenities like school, hospital, etc; Electricity - increases and stabilize the entrepreneurial base of youth.

Response:
Participants rose to the acceptance of inrasructurall development but raissed salient issues that need be addressed to forstall peaceful reaction within the Niger-Delta community on a miscoception of intrest.

The need for a forum that approach and orientate the millitans on a way frward was raised consistently. Many believd that it would douse the tension and give way to a lot of growth in human relations. However, the governement would have to ply a signiicant role in the aspect.

The inclusion of infrastructural development issues relating to youth growth and a state of the art University admist other schools and Resources Centers was of paramount intrest in the submission of participants. A Nigerian citizen in Sierrea Loen mentioned the need for such Centers to take up the idle time of youths in the area considering that it would run skill acquistion projects amongst other programs. Inclusion of some of he above in the National Budget was undoubted singled out as a way out of the crises.

Potential Indstries (in the Oil Sector especially) shold also be seen contributibng to this means mentioned above. Education, Emloyment and Health are of paramonut intrest a a stater to improve the communities. The Universal Basic Educatin Scheme, a basic tool for the Nigerian Governement to achieve the MDG's through our Prpverty Reduction Strtegic Paper (NEEDS II) needs to be enforced properly in the Nigeri Delta. Thi also goes for the National Healt Insurance Scheme.

On a final tone, there is a call for consistent advocacy and sensitisation on the need for peace towards growth and development.

Looking forward to closing responses on todays issue.
