Subject: Review of Day 1.

  Poser:

In your opinion, is this a viable means of resolving the situation in the region? If it is, what is the best means to create new jobs?
What are the best strategies to tackle unemployment, employability and access
to business finance? Are there innovative practices from within or outside the
region that can be replicated? What is the most practical solution to the
problem of unemployment in the Niger-delta?

 Responses:

With the poser above came responses from across Nigeria.

Most participants suggested that a master plan would be in order to address the
issue of growth and development in the area. Some called for orientation in the
area of entrepreneurship, re-orientation and dialogues. At such a forum, others
can reliably proffer some other avenues to move forward.

Worthy of mention is the creation of a state of the University in the vicinity that would boost the education of the youths and allow a rapid reduction in the militancy in the area. An established cottage with a view to making community members self dependent was also raised.
