It's about a month late, but there's time yet to resuscitate this darn fine
idea, for an e-reunion I reckon! Great to hear of everyone's adventures and
tribulations. Change 2006 will conquer the world, one campaign badge by one
campaign badge!
So, here are my responses:
1. Where are you: Democratic Republic of Congo. I'm writing this in
Kinshasa, but by the time I get internet access to send it I'll hopefully be
in Mbuji Mayi in the middle of the country [turns it out, I've only managed
to reply once I got back from Mbuji Mayi, got malaria, recovered from
malaria, and then here I am], which neatly segues into
2. What are you doing these days: I'm working for 6 NGOs (including Oxfam,
Save the Children, and Action Contre la Faim) in the DRC coordinating their
participation in, and lobbying of, the humanitarian system in the country.
I'm also getting really near the end of series 7 of the West Wing
!
3. Any plans you'd like to tell us about: be happy, hug trees, that sort of
thing. Or maybe just survive here in this job without cocking up, and
hopefully return to the UK in 9 months' time with my reputation for middling
competency intact and, regarding affairs of the heart, with a second shot at
making this whole relationship thing work
4. Any cool campaigning things you've done recently: I'm not sure that what
I'm doing here will ever get itself a snazzy Oxfam banner and an e-petition,
but it's change-making all the same. Writing a briefing and getting 5 NGOs
to sign up to it was pretty good; having lobby meetings with a bunch of UN
boss-type peeps is always good, too. And all straight out of the Change
course! (Well, nearly!)
5. Now attach a picture so we can see if you got your hair cut, or
something: following the trend, I shall modestly decline. I have had my hair
cut, but it's a secret.
Keep 'em coming, peeps!
