Hi everyone,
My name is Marco. I'm a former Regional focal point for North America, project coordinator for living positively- http://www.youthaidscoalition.org/living.html, and a member of the media and communications subcommittee. I've been following the e-consultation discussions from the beginning, but I wanna to give other young people the voice and learn from those amazing voices. I want to respond to Joya's comments, because I think that her points are really important.
I was at the preconference in Toronto and I thought that the advocacy training was really useful and really made people aware of key questions that they can ask adults. I really loved it that we were given advise on how to approach adults and make sure that they were aware of the youth pavilion and the commitments desk. I think that doing the same thing would really be useful at this years preconference, but I that we need to look at ways in which we can link both the advocacy and evidence based together. This year there's been allot of discussion and work made to make sure that we document and provide indicators that show the effectiveness that young people have in policy making, in implements, project planning and roles within decision making.
I'm not sure how we can do this but this could be an avenue that we can think of. The posters and materials campaign was really affective and everyone who passed by the pavilion or within the conference were aware of the poster and t-shirts that I think we can piggy back on that campaign again, but this time it should have quotes from young people, such as how living with HIV has changed there lives, how the disease is affecting our generation. Once again I think we need to really think of key quotes, but I think this can also be another avenue that we can take.
Thanks everyone and I look forward to hearing further. It's really inspirational and amazing to here everyone's points.
Best Regards,
Marco Gomes
