Hello,
Am sorry for delaying to reply to the questions provided. I had a problem
with the internet as it was hard to access.
BELOW ARE MY ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS FORWARDED IN WEEK THREE
8. What are some peaceful and innovative ways of highlighting the
importance
of this issue at the conference?
Personally, I think that the use of stepping stones will be an innovative
and peaceful way of highlighting the importance of this issue at the
conference. This is because, they show the usefulness of involving the
targeted groups and its cost effective since one step leads to the other.
9. Imagine that you are at the conference, what kind of tools,
actions or events
do you think would serve the purpose of visibility around the advocacy
message? (e.g. t-shirts, rallies, pins, posters, stickers, etc) keep in mind
that
there is a limit on the budget for materials and events.
Posters would be a better option only if they can clearly state their major
goal and objective. This is because most people world wide find it more
attractive to look at the poster than sitting and listening to various
discussions on AIDS/HIV since it can also cater for the illiterates as the
message is intended for all categories that's to say the illiterates and
literates, young and old.
T-shirts with an HIV/AIDS message at the back will also be a good
alternative simply because every one most especially the literates can read
it more often when an individual wears that same cloth. Some back wordings
would be "imagine an HIV/AIDS free generation, let us join hands and fight a
common enemy - HIV/AIDS, stop AIDS - take the lead and keep the promise",
etc
10. When advocating using this message at the conference, what could
you suggest to your decision-makers as practical and realistic next steps
they can take to implement your ideas?
I think the policy makers should put into consideration the two kinds of
people we have that's to say the illiterates and the literates as they
suffer equally when it comes to issues of HIV/AIDS.
I think that they should also involve the targeted groups (infected with
HIV/AIDS) simply because they can educate others very well basing on their
personal experience starting from the time when they where infected.
Decision makers should also look after the girl child by avoiding any source
of abuse what-so-ever due to her vulnerability to the HIV/AIDS scourge. This
is because the girl child faces the greater risk of acquiring HIV/AIDS than
the boys. So I would urge the policy makers to always fight for the rights
of the girls as they play an instrumental role in the developments of our
particular countries.
Hope to hear from you soon.
Nice time
Jane
