Dear all,
So its late had a long weekend away from internet.
*8. What are some peaceful and innovative ways of highlighting the
importance of this issue at the conference? Keep in mind that there is a
limit on the budget for materials and events.*
Of course T-shits and banners are well known to highlight conference theme
in the whole world but I suggest that a portion of the t-shirt be it front
or back should be designed with a plain background where someone can
inscribe a word with a marker pen and participants could take back the word
of encouragement.
Secondly, so many of us do make a lot of AIDS advocacy tools in our country,
we could open up an event where people could literally exchange souvenirs
but after explain what the souvenir means, how it was mad and what materials
they used to make it. This should of course be focused on IGA's done by
PLWHA. This will also give an opportunity to highlight a best practice.

9. Imagine that you are at the conference. What kind of tools, actions or
events do you think would serve the purpose of visibility around the
advocacy message? (e.g. t-shirts, rallies, pins, posters, stickers, etc)*
I do suggest that since GYCA did track on the commitments made last
conference we should also highlight on them while either building on them or
replicating them as best practice
I second the suggestion made by Esther that the 'Adult-commitment desk' be
turned into a full conference session and should be added to in the main
conference, such that different people from governments, UN agencies,
scientists are given the opportunity at least 10mins each to make at least
two commitments to young people, this way they would be more committed,
because most government officials would refuse going to the commitments desk
but when it is streamlined into the main session they have nor choice than
to comply.
By doing these there should be direct link with the young people at the
conference to be tasked in identifying the areas they want to focus on and
take charge of the following up on the commitments.
*10. When advocating using this message at the conference, what could you
suggest to your decision-makers as practical and realistic next steps they
can take to implement your ideas?*
A great deal should be focused on localizing the suggested practice at our
community level as much talk at conferences and less do in the community is
not at all effective. Suggested ideas should incorporate the young people
and ownership of the programme should be let to the young people with the
partnership with the adults.
Many thanks,
