Dear Friends,
As of today I would officially like to welcome you to the Make Poverty
History Emirates Outreach Team!
My name is Jaser Faruq and I'm currently heading this department of the
coalition.
Initially, I would like to offer my gratitude for offering your time towards
our cause; you will soon be working with the largest Anti-Poverty, (of not
the largest overall) campaign in the world.
I will soon send everybody a copy of the Outreach Brief and I request all of
you to read through if you have not done so already, as it explains in
detail what this department, which is technically you the volunteers, is
trying to achieve. If you do not understand any of it, please contact me and
I would be glad to iron out any doubts.
Our first appearance will be at Fusion 2006, for more information on the
event, please visit www.fusiondubai.com .
We will need you to be free on either, Thursday, Friday or Saturday, the
21-23rd September
We have graciously been offered a spot right at the entrance to the venue
and will be the first thing 20,000 visitors will see upon entering the
exhibition hall.
What we aim for them to see is an array of persuasive banners and posters, a
group of enthusiastic MPH (Make Poverty History) volunteers handing out
leaflets and a stand, hopefully manned by someone distributing white bands
(if they come through).
I believe the eclectic audience will be prepared for anything upon entering
the hall so our aim is to catch them fresh, brimming with enthusiasm, and
convince them to join us in our fight against poverty!
As you will be representing the coalition and should be prepared to answer
any questions, the first thing I would like all of you to do is visit our
website at www.makepovertyhistory.ae
and read the 'About the Campaign' section, it's a large amount to read, but
it's a large campaign in terms of magnitude, vision and potential. :-)
I will go into further detail on procedure at Fusion in my next e-mail,
because I would like to draw up the final list for the Outreach Team before
that.
Also, all communication in this department has been made excessively easy.
Basically whenever you would like to contact someone, send the message to
MPHE-Outreach (at) groups.takingitglobal.org and put the name of the addressee at
the top of the message. The mail will not only be sent to that person but to
everybody In the department so we all know what's going on! :-)
Wow, I just mentioned a whole load of boring technical stuff but it gets
easier from here, so before we go any further I'll summarize by requesting
everybody to:
-Read up on the campaign at www.makepovertyhistory.ae
-Read the Outreach Brief (will be sent to you soon)
-Send an email to MPHE-Outreach (at) groups.takingitglobal.org stating what day
you will be free to volunteer for Fusion 2006
As soon as I receive an email from you I will put you down as official
members of the MPH Outreach Team!
