  Last night I found my piggy bank
That I lost about 14 years ago
I still recall that I got such in my bank
Some three naira added to fifty kobo

I threw my mind back to those days
When my life got built around that bank
All the coin that comes only but stays
Yet I did forget my piggy bank

This money never brought an interest
But it has become of more interest here
For my children will see how I did best
Or my students will learn from there

I can’t stop being proud of the old piggy bank
That daddy told me to operate and make static
But friends called it stinginess in a claim to bank
But it has helped me to become ascetic

Dearest piggy bank of old and yore
I thank and praise your censure
Do same for kids coming to or through us
That the world may have more ascetics for sure
