Dear Odeny Now that the political tragedy is behind us, it is indeed time we focused our efforts and strengths towards our core mandate which revolves around Food Security, Nutrition, Food Sovereignity and Food Entitlement. This is particularly with focus on Western Kenya.Kindly let me have my letter of formal invitation to the Conference while I ponder on some of the Agenda items. Meanwhile some of the items which come to my head right now include Small Scale Irrigation, Promotion of Indigenous Vegetables, Value Addition Processes, Cotton Production and Processing though Micro Ginneries among others. This should also include continued Review of the Food and Nutrition Policy. Kind Regards Francis Were

As part of that preparation to that conference, we can put our ideas together on the issue of right to food in the current situation as politics have overshadowed the drought and malnutrition that the country is creeping into.

I have been trying to follow up the plans for the forthcoming FAO
Regional Conference scheduled to take place in Nairobi at Safari Park
Hotel. The Conference is on 31st March - 4th April 2008. The tentative
Agenda is yet to be circulated by the FAO Kenya office and Ministry of
Agriculture. Could we meet at ActionAid next week Tuesday 6th March 2008
to strategize how to participate in this meeting and also make our
voices as civil society be heard? In case you have more information
