Contribute to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights Featured Theme

I hope that you are well! I am writing to invite your participation as
a member of TakingITGlobal who has identified human rights as an issue
you care about.
On December 10, 2008, the world will commemorate the 60th anniversary of
the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The Declaration was signed
on December 10th, 1948 and over the last 60 years it has continued to
affect people's lives and inspire human rights activism and legislation
all over the world.
TakingITGlobal will also celebrate this milestone by developing a
featured theme around the 60th anniversary. This theme will be a chance
to not only celebrate and commemorate the Declaration, but will also be
an opportunity to reflect on current issues surrounding human rights.
Over 4,000 TakingITGlobal members have let us know that human rights are
an area of interest for them and we want to hear why it's important to
you!
In order to make our featured theme more relevant for our community, I
would like to invite you to submit your stories on what human rights
mean to you and/or your community. Although Human Rights are a
universal concept, it means something different to everyone and each of
you has your own unique perspective on the topic. There are so many
different angles to how human rights affects us- from discrimination to
political participation to access to education- and we really hope to
gather all of your stories as this is also an opportunity to learn from
one another.
To share your thoughts and views, please submit a blog (you can submit
to your blog via your member profile on TakingITGlobal) - written or
photo- and tag it with "UDHR60". Your entry can be as creative as you
wish! Poetry, opinion pieces, photography, and thoughts are all
welcomed. Your entries will then be included in the featured theme
(launching in June 2008). The deadline to submit for the launch is June
3rd, but your submissions are welcomed throughout 2008.
