Ans 1. The development agencies are really doing alot to see to the collaboration of the young people in the development process, but more need to be done on several platforms to optmize the effort of these agencies. There is a need to relax certain measures that stand as obstacle for young diplomatic workers at the grassroot to access funding or government sponsored grants. In the course of carrying out campaigns on MDGs, i have come to discover alot of grounds that are yet to be covered. Such as the following groups:

a) Young people between the age 30 - 35yrs.    Many development agencies or development programs does not include this group in the course of re-orientation or trainning. This group is very strategic as they serve as role model to so many younger ones at the grassroots. The menace in the society usually comes from this group. Go to garages in many Africa countries, e.g Nigeria , you see things for yourself. In the Niger-Delta region it is this age-group that are training the younger recruits in the militant camps around. I therefore , opine that, the government and concerned development agencies should target strategic programs for this age bracket.

b) Unregistered CBOs, NGOs & CLOs: I have seen so many emerging young leaders of African origins that have good programs on the ground, but due to lack measures or pre-requisites involved in registering a CBO or an NGO so many of them have chickened out to be part of the problem they aught to have been part of its solution. I therefore call the attention of the government and concerned development institutions to come in and streamline things to ease the axle of development in our societies.

Ans Qus 2) Obviously, we all have tried to a significant extent to effect the course of youth participation in development programs, but however, much need to be done. I suggest that for the purpose of professionalism, accountability, experiences and integrity, i will like the government and concerned development institutions  to engaged structures as well as certain policies on ground to rreach out for the young people at the grassroots. These institutions should check and as well go through many projects that were handled by the emerged CBOs, NGOs and CLOs, and even individuals with track and accessible records to get them involve in strategic development of our society.

Ans Qus 3) There is a desperate need to get quick richies among many young people right now. The best approach should not be through media like television or radio because this will definitely attract rush rush with the hope of sharing money. I had this experience in the course of assisting in training young people for Top 12 Project powered by the British Council in collaboration with Youngstars foundation, Jos. You can't believe that some people came in the hope of sharing British Dollar and got disappointed that it was only a capacity building project.

I suggest that tested and proven CBOs, NGOs, CLOs and individuals should be deployed via email to decipher the easiest route that will work out for their various constituencies.

QUESTIONS FOR WEEK FOUR:

1. Are there specific practices or approaches you think would increase
collaboration among young people, development agencies, and national
governments?

Ans:
I think the development agencies did a lot which must be appreciated, but I
think if we want to real change then both national governments and development
agencies should let young people own every process concerning us.

How do we own the Process? Young people must be made to feel and be part of the
solution we are all looking for. Young people must be involved in policies, thus
formulation stage to implementation stage.

Secondly young people need to be empowered other than that, we can¢t do well
in pushing whatever policy is being implemented. We need research fellows and
think tanks.

2. How do you think we in general can ensure increased youth participation and
impact in national and local development programmes? Why or why not?

Ans:
Young people should be lured into doing more development work.
Sensitization will also be needed since most of our youth are not on top of
development issues.

3. How can we ensure the invitation and subsequent participation of young
people in the national and regional assessment processes related to core ICPD
efforts (such as family planning, reproductive health, sexually transmitted
disease and gender equality)?

Ans:
By the use of our radio stations, open forum on various school campuses,
community base programmes
