  ICPD15Youth...

NAYA Nigeria (which i belong) and other networks that have joined based on our intrest and experience in the Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health and Right (ASHR) Issues are in the stead of empowering the general public via seminars, workshops and symposiums. The Adult link allows us to get the view and approach to issues in comparison to Adolescent and Youth perception. This also helps us develop a strong module for training sessions.

Young people have found it easy to interact with their age group than with adults. Carefully introduction and adequate ground rules have also made it possible for the some youths to break their jinx of coming all out to be sincere. The greatest challenge had always been the need to get the right information out of the participants at all times. Some resort to exaggeration or do not fully disclose their respond for fear of what their colleagues may say. However, we have been able to get around this by making them fill up questionnaires that is kept private but treated on a wide base approach.

Nigeria refers to help centers as Youth Friendly. This allows policy strategist, stakeholders  and policy makers to discuss, examine and proffer solutions to issues that are of national interest. Opinion of some critics are centered on the needed approach to attending to LXGB
or MSM. It is still been debated. NAYA Nigeria feels the attendance should be as requested by the individual. Like i said, this is debatable and still causing ripples in the Health Sector.

A particular attention is been placed on Health Issues allover the country, but still need commitment at community level. All stakeholders have come to terms that the threat to National Development is real. I believe that we are getting to address the issue while we edge out corruption in this sector.

Thanks for the opportunity to participate.
