QUESTIONS FOR WEEK TWO:
1. Based on your own experience and views on family planning, reproductive health, sexually transmitted diseases, gender equality and community participation in development, which issues need to be given more attention in your country?
ANS:Our major concern in general should be on sexually transmitted diseases because the rate at which this diseases are spreading is beyond our comprehension especially in developing countries, also attension should also be shifted to gender equality because women are being treated as second class citizens so to say in developing countries and this has led to a great setback in women empowerment.finally communities should be helped to adopt policies in developement issues.
2. Do you have any suggestions of additional issues relevant to youth which would be important to add to the development (ICPD) agenda?
ANS:In my own country and community to be precise, the rate at which colledge students abuse drugs is alarming,so i want to suggest if measures can be put inplace to help or educate this future leaders on the effect of drugs when abused and how they can be better individuals in life
3. Do you know of development projects addressing issues of poverty reduction, family planning, reproductive health and gender equality (i.e., related to ICPD) which were implemented with a high degree of youth participation and recognition? Were they successful why or why not?
ANS:I am a member of an organization called Youth Action Initiative, sometimes ago we had a program on save motherhood and bassically we used youths to carry out this sessions, honestly the success can never be over emphasized,i can assure you that when young people are properly monitored and educated they can produse the best result ever.so i will suggest that we as young persons should be given the opportunity maybe we can bring about the change that has been long anticipated.
4. If you do not know of a development project related to core ICPD issues, you might want to share an experience with a development project with youth participation in general which you think could be used as a model for means to ensure youth participation in implementing strategies and projects related to family planning, reproductive health, sexually transmitted disease, and gender equality.
ANS:I am familiar with the core ICPD issues, but have got an experience i woulkd like to share but i will appreciate if you ask me next time.it is called the GOING GREEN EVENT.
