...raising a generation of transformational leaders.
Welcome to the 2nd Edition of The Bridge Leadership Foundation’s monthly newsletter “THE TRANSFORMER”. Since the release of our first edition last month, we have kick started the implementation of our Mentoring Programme with the hosting of a Mentee’s Training as well as a Breakfast Briefing for the Mentors. We have also continued our regular “Leadership Quotes” on our various Social Media platforms. We are also excited about the fact that soon, the ground breaking for our International Leadership Centre will take place in Calabar! For all these and more; we urge you to watch this space!
We welcome your feedback and enquiries, even as you join us in raising a generation of transformational leaders!
QUOTE OF THE MONTH
“The man who does things makes many mistakes, but he never makes the biggest mistake of all – doing nothing”– Benjamin Franklin
TBLF Holds Mentees Training in Calabar
The Bridge Leadership Foundation on March 24th 2012 rolled out the First batch of its Mentoring Training for Mentees. The 15 mentees selected to be part of the programme dedicated a full day to the training which unraveled the meaning, benefits and process of the Mentoring programme.
The training sought to prepare the mentees for the six (6)-month mentoring period during which they would be matched to a mentor and the progress of the relationship would be monitored by the Foundation. Mentees were also briefed on the Structure, Do’s and Dont's of the TBLF mentoring programme. At the end of the training, mentees had reached the understanding that the success of the mentoring programme does not lie in the hands of their mentors, but in their own hands. They also understood, clearly, the role they have to play to make the relationship a success.
“I wasn’t sure which mentor I would be paired with, but I was praying the person is rich; this mentees training has changed my perspective on Mentoring! – Just the same way I didn’t choose my parents, I have an open mind about my mentor and I cannot wait to know who he or she will be” – Frederick Ukam, A Mentee
Facilitating the various sessions were Mrs. Ini Onuk, CEO, ThistlePraxis Consulting, Mrs. Bidemi Mark- Mordi, Managing Director at Verbatim Communications, Mrs. Seun Ogunleye, Managing Director at Thots & Works, and Mr. Edem Edem, Executive Director, Greencode.
Mentors build consensus over breakfast!
As part of its lineup of activities for Mentoring Programme, The Bridge Leadership Foundation hosted its first batch of Twenty- Five Mentors to a Breakfast Briefing. The main objective of the meeting, which was to brief the mentors on the modus operandi of the TBLF Mentoring Programme structure and their roles as mentors, was facilitated by In Onuk, the Lead Consultant/CEO, ThistlePraxis Consulting.
She stressed the relevance of the Mentoring Programme, also stating clearly that this is a structured mentoring programme hence its uniqueness in the results it will deliver. The briefing also provided a networking opportunity for the mentors to interact; one of the striking resolutions was the need to inculcate the long lost system of values in our young people.
“The core values of discipline, hardwork and dignity in labour has perished in this generation of young people and as mentors we have to bring them back to that lane; this is the task before me and us today as mentors”- Sen. Liyel Imoke- Founder, The Bridge Leadership Foundation
